Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar created a new record in 2025 by handling 5.15 million passengers, the highest in its history.
Airport authorities confirmed that no previous year had witnessed such a large volume of passenger traffic.
According to the airport director, Bhubaneswar has now secured the 13th position among Indian airports in terms of passenger movement. Delhi Airport continues to lead the country, recording nearly 70 million passengers.
Currently, flights operate from Bhubaneswar to 28 destinations across India, reflecting the city’s growing importance as a regional aviation hub. The increase in passenger traffic highlights the rising demand for connectivity and the airport’s expanding role in Odisha’s economic and tourism growth.
Officials noted that the record-breaking numbers demonstrate the airport’s improved infrastructure, enhanced services, and growing popularity among travellers. With steady growth in both domestic and international traffic, Bhubaneswar Airport is expected to continue climbing the national rankings in the coming years.
