Three persons sustained critical injuries after two trucks fell off a bridge on National Highway 16 near Gelpur Square in Bhadrak on Wednesday.
The incident occurred early this morning and has raised concerns about the safety of parked vehicles on busy highways.
The collision happened when a speeding sand-laden truck crashed into a stationary container truck loaded with electrical equipment and a DJ set. The impact caused both vehicles to plunge from the bridge. The drivers of both trucks and a helper sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Local residents described a loud crash as the trucks collided and fell from the elevated roadway. They expressed concerns about the risks posed by stationary vehicles on the highway, which can lead to such unfortunate incidents.
In a separate incident, a motorcyclist was burned alive, and two others were critically injured in a collision with a truck in Digapahandi block, Ganjam district. The injured were transported to a nearby medical facility, and local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
