The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken decisive action following India’s 1-3 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In a bid to restore team unity and discipline, BCCI has removed several key support staff members, including assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, fielding coach T. Dilip, and strength & conditioning coach Soham Desai. This bold shake-up comes amidst concerns over leaked dressing room conversations that raised questions about the squad’s cohesion.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir has emphasised maintaining team integrity, urging players to focus on performance rather than internal disputes. In response, BCCI is set to introduce fresh coaching perspectives, with domestic legend Sitanshu Kotak, Ryan ten Doeschate, and fitness expert Adrian Le Roux expected to fill the vacant roles.
As India gears up for their upcoming five-match Test series against England starting on June 20, 2025, these changes mark a crucial attempt at restructuring the team for future success.
