With the Indian Premier League (IPL) currently suspended, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is exploring plans to resume the tournament.
Kolkata and cities in southern India, such as Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, are being considered as potential venues, provided security concerns and logistical arrangements allow for a swift restart.
A key factor influencing the decision is the ongoing border tensions. If the situation fails to stabilise, BCCI may delay the tournament until after India’s Test series against England, which ends in early August. The postponement could also impact the Asia Cup in September, with doubts surrounding India’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, overseas players have started making arrangements to depart, while franchises remain hopeful that BCCI will soon give the green light to resume matches.
