In a shocking development, Brajamohan Pradhan, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jaleswar, Odisha, has allegedly threatened to end his life due to severe workplace harassment.
In a formal letter addressed to higher authorities, Pradhan detailed the immense psychological pressure and excessive workload he has been subjected to.
According to sources, the senior officer, who is 58 years old and hails from Kandhamal district, expressed distress over the treatment meted out to him by the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Balasore. He reportedly claimed that he was assigned multiple responsibilities beyond reasonable limits, including duties at both Balasore headquarters and Jaleswar. Additionally, he alleged that he was publicly humiliated in general meetings, further exacerbating his mental distress.
The officer’s plea for relief comes amid concerns about workplace conditions and mental well-being within the police force. He stated in his letter that unless his SDPO responsibilities were revoked, he would have no choice but to take his own life.
The matter has sparked outrage, drawing attention to the pressures faced by law enforcement officials. Authorities are expected to investigate these claims thoroughly and provide necessary interventions to address systemic issues within the department.
DIG Eastern Range, Dr. Satyajit Naik, visited SDPO Jaleswar, Brajamohan Pradhan, at the hospital to discuss the allegations that Pradhan had made.
The purpose of the meeting was to address the concerns and grievances raised by SDPO Pradhan. DIG Naik aimed to gain a clearer understanding of the situation and explore potential resolutions.
