A heartbreaking incident shook Balasore’s Baliapal village as a ninth-grade student, Priyanshu Pritam Giri, allegedly took his own life after his parents denied him access to his mobile phone.

According to family sources, Priyanshu was engrossed in his phone early this morning when his mother urged him to focus on his studies instead. His elder brother, Jyoti Jivan, also stepped in and took away the phone, insisting on academic discipline.

The family then left home briefly, only to return and find Priyanshu hanging from a ceiling fan. Despite rushed medical attention, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Local authorities have launched an investigation, registering an unnatural death case and conducting an autopsy to ascertain further details.
