The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced key appointments for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Assam.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal will serve as the Election Incharge for Tamil Nadu, while BJP National Vice President and Member of Parliament Baijayant Panda will lead as the Election Incharge for Assam.
BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda made the appointments, and they signal the party’s strategy to strengthen its organisational presence and campaign leadership in both states.
Firstly, in Tamil Nadu, Piyush Goyal’s leadership will energise the party’s cadre and streamline election preparations. Secondly, in Assam, Baijayant Panda’s appointment shows the party’s focus on consolidating its position in the northeastern state ahead of the polls.
For the Assam Assembly elections, the party named:
- Baijayant Panda, MP and National Vice President – Election Incharge
- Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLA and Leader of Opposition, Jammu & Kashmir Assembly – Election Co-Incharge
- Darshana Ben Jardosh, Former Union Minister, Government of India – Election Co-Incharge
For the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the appointments include:
- Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India – Election Incharge
- Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India – Election Co-Incharge
- Muralidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation & Co-operation, Government of India – Election Co-Incharge
