The Paradip Port Authority (PPA), Odisha Maritime Board (OMB), and Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd. (SFCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the Bahuda Satellite Port in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The MoU was exchanged at Bhavnagar, Gujarat, by Shri P. L. Haranadh, Chairman of PPA, Ms. Usha Padhee, IAS, Chairperson of OMB, and Shri Vikas Narwal, IAS, Managing Director of IPA & SFCL. The project carries a massive investment commitment of ₹21,500 crore and is designed to handle 150 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) of cargo, including large dry bulk carriers and container vessels.
The Bahuda Port will be Odisha’s second major Union-government-backed port after Paradip and is expected to play a pivotal role in decongesting existing ports, reducing logistics costs, and unlocking trade potential for mineral-rich regions in Odisha, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Chhattisgarh.
The port is part of the Maritime India Vision 2030 and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aiming to strengthen coastal shipping and EXIM trade. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed to oversee execution, financing, and operations.
