Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda is set to visit Bhubaneswar on April 10 to inaugurate the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in Odisha on April 11.
The landmark event will witness the merger of AB-PMJAY with Odisha’s existing Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY), forming Ayushman Bharat-Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-GJAY). This integration aims to deliver seamless healthcare to approximately 3.52 crore beneficiaries from 1.08 crore families, ensuring individual health cards for all.
Under this scheme, the Odisha government will ensure uninterrupted medical coverage, even for services outside AB-PMJAY, along with special provisions for senior citizens under the Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme. The initiative, backed by upgraded IT systems developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is expected to improve operational efficiency for empanelled hospitals. This launch marks a significant step towards universal health care for Odisha residents.
