In a horrifying incident, Ram Das, a 50-year-old truck driver, was brutally murdered with an axe in Chimnibhati Pada village in Bolangir district on Saturday.

The attack, linked to a financial dispute, occurred on Saturday afternoon near a local school.

Ram Das was intercepted by assailants while riding his bike and attacked with an axe, leading to his death at the scene. Locals discovered the body and alerted the police. SDPO Saroj Upadhyay, Town Police IIC Abani Sahu, and Inspector Anita Patnaik arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

Ram Das’s wife revealed that the murder was connected to unpaid debts involving Chinu Patnaik from Rameshwar Nagar, who had threatened Ram Das two days prior. A sniffer dog traced the trail to Chinu Patnaik’s house, and police are now searching for him.

The DFS team and dog squad are examining the area, and police officials assured that the case will be resolved soon.
