Jajpur: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended an Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) and Junior Clerk of Jajpur district while allegedly accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe.
The accused Asst Block Education Officer and Jr Clerk have been identified as Amiya Kumar Dash and Sekhar Nayak respectively.
According to reports, Amiya and Sekhar were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe amount at their office from a schoolteacher for releasing his arrear pay and other pending dues.
A case has been registered by Berhampur Vigilance under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, against both of them.
Meanwhile, searches are on at two locations, including Dash’s paternal house at Kudei Sasan village in Jajpur and at flat no-4, Shree Tower in BJB Nagar, Bhubaneswar, from a disproportionate assets angle.
