Assam Police in coordination with the Commissionerate Police conducted a high-stakes raid in Bhubaneswar to apprehend Sameer Patnaik, a fugitive accused in multi-crore financial scams.
The operation took place at Subhadra Apartment in the Infocity area following a tip-off about Patnaik’s whereabouts.
Patnaik, who tops Assam’s most wanted list and has a court warrant pending against him, had been evading arrest for an extended period. After receiving intelligence inputs, police teams converged on the suspected hideout. With the door locked from inside and no response to repeated knocks, officers forcibly entered the flat.
While Patnaik was not present during the raid, a woman found inside the apartment was questioned. She claimed her son, a lawyer, had instructed her not to open the door. Her connection to Patnaik remains under investigation.
Previously arrested by Commissionerate Police and released on bail, Patnaik became the focus of renewed efforts by Assam authorities, who secured fresh warrants and intensified their search. The raid marks a significant step in cross-state collaboration to tackle financial crimes.
Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
