With doubts looming over the Asia Cup 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is exploring alternative plans, including a potential tri-series with Afghanistan and the UAE.
“If the Asia Cup is moved to the UAE, then Pakistan will play a tri-series with Afghanistan and the UAE in Dubai this August, replacing Afghanistan’s scheduled tour to Pakistan,” a PCB source told PTI.
The PCB has reportedly already initiated discussions with both boards involved.
However, if the Asia Cup is cancelled or postponed altogether, the PCB prefers to host the tri-series in Pakistan instead.
Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, is expected to meet soon to decide the fate of the tournament.
“The BCCI is yet to confirm its willingness to host the Asia Cup in India,” a source said. “The final decision rests with the ACC council, which hasn’t convened yet.”
The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to be played in the T20 format, and the uncertainty surrounding its venue and format continues to delay preparations.
