Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the cabinet overhaul, Odisha’s prominent tribal leader and BJP’s Lok Sabha MP from Mayurbhanj and Rajya Sabha MP Ashwini Vaishnav were sworn-in as ministers in PM Modi ministry.
While Tudu took oath as a Minister of State (MoS), Vaishnav was sworn in as a cabinet minister in the Modi government.
Tudu is the first time MP from the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat, reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. The BJP has eight Lok Sabha members from Odisha and alone Rajya Sabha member in Vaishnav.
A total of 43 leaders took oath in the first Union Cabinet reshuffle and expansion after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to power for a second term in May 2019.
The new Modi 2.0 cabinet is expected to be the youngest ever in the country’s history. The Union Cabinet, which can have 81 members, has 53 ministers at present.
