A Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) named Arjun Patra was robbed of Rs. 8.59 lakh in Koraput district on Saturday.
In broad daylight, six robbers, armed with knives, intercepted the PEO near Ratali road in the Singhpur police station area of Borigumma block. They snatched the cash, beat him up, and took his phone.
Arjun Patra was on his way to the Panchayat office to distribute old-age pensions. The robbers, who had parked three bikes in the middle of the road, stopped his bike and attacked him.
Reportedly, Singhpur police have launched an investigation into the incident.
