Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level review meeting today, to assess progress on two tourism projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.
Senior officials from the Government of Odisha and the Tourism Department participated in the session.
The Tourism Secretary presented the Hirakud Master Plan, outlining project details, site sensitivities, and required clearances. Officials discussed the Water and Light Symphony, which will narrate the story of the Mahanadi River, the creation of the Hirakud Dam, and its present-day significance. The theme emphasizes that Mahanadi is not just a river—it represents the people and their journey.
The Dam Museum project also received attention. It will feature immersive storytelling, covering pre-dam history, floods, famines, and the transformative impact of the dam. Visitors will experience interactive exhibits, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and hands-on learning spaces.
Anu Garg directed the Odisha Construction Corporation (OCC) to ensure timely execution of both projects. The initiatives aim to boost tourism, preserve heritage, and offer engaging experiences for visitors.
