Bhubaneswar: OTT platform Kancha Lanka which announced a web series named ‘Baranga 1999’ drew sharp criticism from Anjana Mishra- the high profile gang rape survivor as the series is going to showcase the life story of Mishra.
Anjana said that no one has consulted her before making such a film. She warned of legal action if the producer goes ahead with his decision.
Mishra demanded immediate halt of the project. “I just came to know from media. I had no prior information regarding it. No one has met me nor hold any discussion regarding the serial. I would move court if it is not stopped at the earliest,” she added.
The web series will have nine episodes, which is slated to be released in 2023. One episode has already been shot successfully while others will begin very soon, sources said.
The serial will show case the struggle of Anjana Mishra and the political scenarios of the state during the days.
One other hand, producer Akshya Parija denied the story showcasing any one’s life. “Baranga 1999′ is not based on any one’s life. Rather it will show case the justice and police system in the State.
