A devastating fire incident shook Gitagram village under Angul’s Town Police Station limits early Monday morning, claiming the life of 35-year-old Saroj Sahu.
The victim, reportedly alone at home due to an ongoing family conflict, was found dead in the blaze.
Sources reveal that Saroj had a heated dispute with his wife, leading her and their child to leave the house the previous day. At approximately 4:00 AM, neighbours noticed flames rising from Saroj’s residence and promptly alerted authorities. Fire services arrived by 4:30 AM and extinguished the fire—but tragically, Saroj had succumbed to the flames.
The exact cause behind the fire and Saroj’s death remains uncertain. Police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation to determine the sequence of events and possible foul play.
Authorities are also probing whether the fire was accidental or intentional, considering the backdrop of domestic unrest.
