An Se-young captured her second consecutive India Open women’s singles crown with a commanding victory over Wang Zhiyi at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi on Sunday.
The South Korean shuttler dominated from the start. She won the opening game 21-13 and sealed the title with a 21-11 triumph in the second. Se-young needed only 43 minutes to complete the straight-games win, displaying lightning-quick reflexes and relentless control.
The final marked another chapter in her rivalry with Wang Zhiyi, the two-time Asian champion from China. Se-young had beaten Zhiyi just a week earlier to win the Malaysia Open. She extended her head-to-head record to 18 wins and four losses, and she has not lost to Zhiyi in their last 10 encounters.
Se-young’s victory also highlighted her remarkable consistency. She won 11 titles in 2025, the most by any woman shuttler in a single season. In 2026, she has already secured two major crowns — Malaysia Open and India Open — reinforcing her status as the most dominant force in women’s badminton.
The Yonex Sunrise India Open 2026 final showcased her ability to control rallies, dictate pace, and finish points with precision. Wang Zhiyi struggled to break through Se-young’s defence and failed to match her speed and accuracy.
With back-to-back India Open titles, Se-young continues to set new benchmarks in the sport. Fans in New Delhi witnessed a masterclass performance that underlined why she remains the top contender in every tournament she enters.
