Air India continues to struggle with operational challenges, as its Ahmedabad-London flight AI-159 was cancelled due to a technical glitch.

This marks the second major disruption on the same route in recent days, following a tragic crash on June 12 that claimed 241 lives.

The cancellation follows a series of setbacks for the airline, including:

  • Mumbai-Ahmedabad Flight AI2493: Cancelled due to crew duty time limitations.

  • San Francisco-Mumbai Flight: Passengers deplaned in Kolkata due to an engine malfunction.

  • Delhi-Ranchi Air India Express Flight: Diverted back to Delhi after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue.

  • Hong Kong-Bound Flight AI315: Forced to return midair due to a mechanical failure.

Meanwhile, authorities continue efforts to identify victims from the deadliest Indian air crash in three decades. DNA matching has confirmed 119 identities, while 76 families, including that of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, have received their loved ones’ remains.

The ill-fated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner AI171, which crashed into buildings near BJ Medical College, remains the centre of investigation as aviation safety concerns mount.

Air India, in a statement, reiterated its commitment to passenger safety, promising thorough checks and precautionary measures. However, travellers and industry experts are calling for a deeper review of the airline’s technical and operational protocols.
