An Air India flight (AI180) from San Francisco to Mumbai faced a technical snag in its left engine, leading to a delay and the deplaning of passengers during a scheduled layover at Mumbai Airport early Tuesday.
The flight arrived on time at 12:45 AM, but a malfunction in the engine postponed its onward journey. At around 5:20 AM, passengers were asked to deplane as a precautionary measure.
According to the aircraft’s captain, the decision was made in the interest of flight safety.
This incident adds to a growing list of recent aviation issues, including a Delhi-bound Air India flight returning to Hong Kong due to a suspected technical fault, and smoke detection on a Haj flight to Lucknow, where all passengers were reported safe.
