Panic spread across Bengaluru on Friday as at least 40 schools received bomb threat emails, prompting a large-scale security response.
The threats come on the heels of similar alerts received by 20 schools in Delhi the same morning, marking the fourth consecutive day of such incidents in the national capital.
In Bengaluru, several private institutions in areas such as Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri were among those targeted. City police teams, including bomb disposal squads, were swiftly deployed to the affected schools to conduct thorough searches and secure the premises.
Meanwhile, the situation in Delhi remained tense, with prominent schools including St Xaviers (Civil Lines), Richmond Global School (Paschim Vihar), Abhinav Public School, and The Sovereign School (Rohini) also receiving bomb threats earlier in the day.
Investigations are underway in both cities to trace the source of the emails, which so far appear to be hoaxes, though authorities are treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
These repeated threats have sparked public concern over school safety, prompting calls for enhanced cyber surveillance and stronger security protocols at educational institutions.
