Celebrated actress and filmmaker Nandita Das held a significant meeting today at Lok Seva Bhawan with Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, and Minister for Culture, Higher Education, Sports, and Youth Services, Suryabanshi Suraj.

The discussion focused on promoting Odisha’s rich art, culture, and tourism on a global stage.

Nandita Das presented several proposals aimed at showcasing Odisha’s cultural heritage to the world while attracting more tourists to the state. She sought the support of the Odisha government, Deputy CM Singh Deo, and the Culture Department to implement these initiatives. The proposals include strategies to enhance the visibility of Odisha’s traditional art forms and cultural festivals, alongside efforts to boost tourism through creative storytelling and cinematic projects.

Deputy CM Singh Deo, who also oversees Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy, assured that the government would review the proposals through departmental discussions and provide necessary support. He emphasised the importance of such initiatives in preserving and promoting Odisha’s unique identity.

Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj lauded Nandita Das’s efforts, describing them as a commendable step toward amplifying Odisha’s cultural narrative. “These initiatives will not only celebrate our heritage but also position Odisha as a global cultural destination,” he stated.

The meeting marks a promising collaboration between the state government and the creative industry, with potential to transform Odisha into a hub for cultural tourism.

Further discussions are expected to finalise the roadmap for these ambitious projects.
