Satish Shah faces racist remarks at a UK airport; his response wins hearts
Mumbai: Veteran actor Satish Shah has made headlines for facing racist comments at London’s Heathrow Airport. However, the way he handled the entire situation in a foreign land is winning hearts on the internet. Sharing the details of the incident, Satish Shah took to his verified Twitter handle and shared how he responded to the racist comment.
In his brief tweet, he explained how the Heathrow staff was wondering how he could afford first-class tickets. As Satish Shah heard them talking, he gave them a befitting yet humble reply.
“I replied with a proud smile ‘because we are Indians’ after I overheard the Heathrow staff wonderingly asking his mate ‘how can they afford 1st class?'” Mr Shah revealed.
Heathrow Airport also responded to the tweet apologising about the encounter. “Good morning, we’re sorry to hear about this encounter. May you DM us?” the airport wrote in the comments.
Several internet users also praised Mr Shah for standing up to the racist remark. Some even urged the UK government to take necessary measures.
Satish Shah, who featured in several Bollywood films, is best known for his role in the popular TV soap comedy ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’. He also appeared as a judge on the TV show ‘Comedy Circus’.
Coming to the professional front, the 71-year-old actor will be next seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki, which will also feature Taapsee Pannu. Reportedly, he will be playing a London-based lawyer who fights the cases of illegal Asian immigrants. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Boman Irani will also essay an important character in the movie.
