The afternoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly witnessed heavy commotion and repeated adjournments today as Opposition members created a ruckus, severely disrupting parliamentary proceedings.
The session commenced at 4 PM under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi. However, immediately after the proceedings began, opposition leaders staged a protest, creating an uproar in the House. In response to the commotion, the Deputy Speaker called an all-party meeting at 4:01 PM and adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
The all-party meeting was convened in the Deputy Speaker’s chamber to resolve the impasse. Upon his invitation, several key leaders attended, including Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Government Chief Whip Saroj Pradhan, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, Prasanna Acharya, Pratap Deb, Congress Legislature Party Leader Rama Chandra Kadam, and CPI leader Laxman Munda.
Despite efforts to restore order, the House faced a series of subsequent adjournments as normal proceedings could not be restored.
