The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, has postponed the Upper Primary Scholarship Examination 2026 (Class 5 Bruti Exam) originally scheduled for September 24.
The decision comes as a precautionary measure in response to severe weather conditions triggered by Cyclonic Storm Arnav brewing over the Bay of Bengal.
According to reports, the exam will now be conducted on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10 AM to 12 PM across designated examination centres in the state.
The postponement was ordered to ensure the safety and well-being of young primary school students across Odisha. A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into Cyclonic Storm Arnav, bringing forecasts of localised squalls, heavy to very heavy rainfall, and potential waterlogging across several coastal and southern districts.
District administrations in high-alert areas—including Gajapati, Ganjam, and Khordha—have already announced temporary closures of all primary schools, high schools, and Anganwadi centres through September 24.
Parents, school authorities, and candidates have been advised to keep a close watch on official announcements from BSE Odisha (bseodisha.ac.in)for any further instructions regarding revised admit cards or centre updates. State authorities continue to monitor the path of Cyclonic Storm Arnav as disaster response teams remain on standby across vulnerable regions.
