Four armed miscreants looted over Rs 1 lakh at gunpoint from an employee of Annapurna Finance in the Nandapur police limits of Koraput district.
The victim, identified as Daniel Khara, works as a loan collection staff member at the Annapurna Finance office located in the Nandapur block headquarters. The company routinely disburses group and individual loans across rural pockets and collects weekly as well as daily repayments.
According to the complaint, Khara was returning after completing his daily collection rounds across various villages under the Kumargandhana Panchayat in Lamtaput block. While travelling on the stretch between Parajapaliba and Balia village, four unidentified men riding two motorcycles suddenly intercepted his path.
The miscreants pointed a mouser pistol at Khara, physically assaulted him, and forcibly snatched ₹1,07,000 in collected cash along with his mobile phone. The attackers then sped off toward Koraput via the Suku bridge.
Following the encounter, Khara reported the incident to his branch management and subsequently lodged a formal complaint at the Nandapur police station.
Nandapur Police have registered a case (Case No. 146/2026) regarding the robbery. Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Trinath Totapadia has personally taken charge of the investigation.
“A thorough investigation is underway with the assistance of a technical team from the district police headquarters,” said IIC Trinath Totapadia. He added that law enforcement officials are tracking potential escape routes and expressed confidence that the culprits will be apprehended soon.
