The launch of the iPhone 18 Pro in India has triggered long queues outside Apple stores, with enthusiastic buyers arriving hours before outlets opened to get their hands on the latest iPhone.
At Apple’s store at DLF Mall of India in Noida, India Today Tech spoke to several customers waiting for the new device. Among them was a Delhi man who said he had sold gold to buy an iPhone 18 Pro for his wife.
‘I Sold Gold To Buy The iPhone’
The man, who was among the first people in the queue, said he was buying the iPhone 18 Pro as a gift for his wife. According to India Today Tech, his wife had specifically asked for the phone in Burgundy.
He said his wife was not previously an iPhone user and that he wanted to give her the new device as an upgrade.
Explaining his decision to make the purchase now, he said he had not had the money for such a purchase earlier and was choosing to enjoy the moment.
When asked how he planned to fund the expensive purchase, the Delhi man told the publication: “Gold bechke he toh ye lene aaye hai”, saying he had sold gold to buy the phone.
Punjab Man Travels To Noida For Fiancée’s Gift
Another buyer, Gurdita Singh from Punjab, travelled to Noida with a friend to purchase an iPhone 18 Pro for his fiancée ahead of his wedding.
The two reportedly reached the Apple Store around 6 am and waited for it to open.
Singh also purchased an iPhone 18 Pro Max for himself, with the two phones costing him more than Rs 3.5 lakh, according to India Today Tech.
He planned to return to Punjab after making the purchases, with a train scheduled for 11 am.
Couple Buys Two iPhone 18 Pro Models
A couple also arrived at the Noida store to purchase two iPhone 18 Pro devices. The woman said the higher price compared with the previous generation would not necessarily deter iPhone buyers.
The couple had reportedly pre-booked their phones on September 12.
They also planned to buy Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo, with a friend in Hong Kong expected to bring the device to India in October.
Buyers Wait For Hours Amid iPhone 18 Pro Demand
The queues outside the Noida Apple Store included students, businesspersons and employees. Some customers reportedly took leave from work to be among the early buyers.
However, not everyone waiting outside could purchase the device. Customers who had not pre-ordered the iPhone 18 Pro were reportedly not allowed to enter the store to make a purchase.
The scenes at the Noida outlet highlighted the strong demand surrounding Apple’s latest Pro models as they officially went on sale in India.
