Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Dr Kedarnath Pal, Former Medical Officer of Madhyakhand PHC, Nayagada district, in a bribery case.
On Wednesday, the Additional Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, sentenced Dr Pal to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.
Dr Pal, who had retired from service, was charge‑sheeted under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe from a staffer of the PHC for disbursement of a HUDCO loan.
Following the conviction, Vigilance officials confirmed that they will move the competent authority to stop his pension benefits.
