Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat delivered a powerful message of unity and inclusivity at the Universal Oneness Celebration in Madison Square Garden, addressing over 6,000 members of the Indian‑American community and interfaith leaders.
Bhagwat underscored that “unity in diversity is in Bharat’s DNA”, urging the diaspora to celebrate, respect, and accept diversity while remaining loyal to their karmabhoomi (land of action). He emphasised that Hindutva embraces the dignity of all humans, stating, “If any Hindu thinks there should be no Muslim in Bharat, he will not remain Hindu.”
The RSS chief highlighted India’s heritage of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), stressing that nations have destinies to fulfil and Bharat’s mission is to showcase unity through diversity. He called on the diaspora to live by values imparted by their janmabhoomi (motherland) while fulfilling duties to their adopted homeland.
The event, organised by the American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD) forum, brought together participants from 39 states, 853 cities, and 250 organisations. Interfaith leaders including Rabbi Jacob Blumenthal, Reverend Adriene Thorne, and Imam Talib M Shareef echoed the call for compassion, solidarity, and oneness.
Bhagwat’s remarks, blending cultural references, historical anecdotes, and calls for inclusivity, resonated with the audience, reinforcing the message that diversity is natural and unity is truth.
