On the occasion of National Sports Day, commemorating hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary, Interim Director General of Police Vinaytosh Mishra felicitated outstanding police athletes at a special ceremony held at the DGP Camp Office in Bhubaneswar.
The athletes, representing Odisha Police, brought glory to the state by winning eight medals — including two gold, five silver, and one bronze — at the ASMITA National Water Sports Championship 2026 held in Bhopal from August 8–9.
Among the medal winners:
- WC/1366 Rashmita Sahu clinched three medals, including gold in Canoeing Singles 1000m, and silver in the 500m and 200m events.
- WC/349 Sachima Kerketta also secured three medals, winning gold in Canoeing-4 200m, and silver in the 500m and 1000m categories.
- WC/322 Phulamani Khakha earned silver in Kayaking-2 200m and bronze in Singles 1000m.
Congratulating the athletes, DGP Mishra praised their dedication, hard work, and excellence, encouraging them to continue raising Odisha Police’s reputation at both national and international levels.
Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar attended the event and motivated the players, while Police Sports Officer Nilamadhab Swain coordinated the programme.
