A major fire broke out at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Paralakhemundi, Gajapati district, on Saturday, completely destroying the office’s server room.
According to reports, the blaze erupted on the first floor of the building and quickly engulfed the server room, reducing equipment and records to ashes. Fire services personnel rushed to the spot after being alerted and launched an operation to contain the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to other sections of the office.
Preliminary assessments suggest that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the incident, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. Officials are expected to conduct a detailed investigation to determine the source of the fire and assess the extent of damage to servers, electronic equipment, and other office property.
Authorities will also examine the condition of the electrical installations to verify whether faulty wiring was responsible. The financial loss is expected to be significant, with the final figure to be determined after a comprehensive evaluation.
