The Nuapada district administration has enforced a strict ‘No Entry’ rule for heavy goods vehicles on National Highway-353 and Biju Expressway.
The restriction, effective daily from 7 AM to 1 PM and again from 3 PM to 7 PM, aims to ensure smooth passage for schoolchildren and commuters in Khariar Road, Nuapada, and Khariar NAC areas. Heavy traffic during daytime hours has long posed risks to public safety, prompting this intervention.
District Collector and Magistrate Madhusudan Dash issued the order under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Rule 173 of the Odisha Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993. During restricted hours, heavy vehicles must park at designated spots identified by the administration.
To enforce compliance, multiple checkpoints have been set up: near Jalaram Temple for Khariar Road NAC, Sahipala and Ghatipada for Nuapada NAC, and Padmapur and Gosala for Khariar NAC. Vehicles carrying essential goods, however, are exempt from the ban.
The administration has urged truck drivers and owners to strictly follow the directive, emphasising that the measure is designed to protect lives, reduce congestion, and maintain discipline in traffic management.
