Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday held his 20th public grievance hearing at Unit-2 in Bhubaneswar, where he met complainants and reviewed their concerns, with several cases receiving immediate attention from the administration.

Around 1,000 people who had registered online attended the grievance programme. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia and other ministers were also present.

A dedicated help desk was arranged for persons with disabilities, allowing the Chief Minister to directly interact with them and hear their concerns.

Complainants seek financial and medical assistance

Several people approached the Chief Minister seeking financial and medical support.

Santos Biswal, who said he has been unable to walk for several years, sought assistance after his disability certificate was reportedly disqualified. He said his father had died and his elderly mother was also unwell, leaving the family in financial difficulty.

Another complainant, Sanjukta Parida, sought financial assistance after suffering kidney damage. She said the family was struggling to pay for medicines and household expenses while also supporting her daughter’s education.

Government promises on-the-spot action

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said addressing people’s problems is a key responsibility of the government and elected representatives.

He said officials concerned were being directed to resolve grievances on the spot wherever possible, particularly cases involving sick people and persons with disabilities.

Speaking about the latest hearing, CM Majhi said more than 600 cases had been received and that he personally interacted with complainants to understand their problems.

95% of previous grievances resolved: Majhi

The Chief Minister claimed that 95% of the issues raised during the previous 19 grievance hearings have been resolved.

Majhi said every grievance was being given importance and that concerned officials had been instructed to prioritise pending matters and resolve them at the earliest.

The government has also directed District Collectors to conduct grievance hearings every Monday on a rotational basis across different blocks, he said.

Medical assistance for 16 critically ill patients

The Chief Minister said people with health-related concerns and persons with disabilities were also being supported through a single-window system.

Medical teams are helping eligible beneficiaries obtain necessary certificates, following which they can receive required medical assistance and equipment.

Majhi further announced that 16 critically ill patients will receive medical assistance worth ₹14.5 lakh.

The latest grievance hearing is part of the state government’s ongoing effort to provide citizens with direct access to the administration and expedite the resolution of public complaints.
