The abduction of well‑known businessman Narendra Sahu alias Gunda has taken a dramatic turn with police releasing CCTV footage from Bhubaneswar’s Sunrise Hotel, showing his presence alongside main accused Kshitis Sahu and his sister, police SI Sneha Manjari Sahu.
Police said Gunda Sahu was kidnapped over a financial dispute involving Rs 2.7 crore, with Kshitis allegedly resorting to abduction after failed repayment negotiations. Reports suggest Gunda was confined at the hotel, assaulted, and pressured to sign a settlement agreement before Balangir police intervened.
The case has exposed deeper criminal links. Kshitis Sahu reportedly has a history of fraud and smuggling cases, while his sister Sneha Manjari was earlier accused of demanding Rs 20 lakh from a mafia operator. Audio evidence of her alleged extortion has also been released.
So far, four accused — Kshitis Sahu, SI Sneha Manjari Sahu, crime reporter Sanjay Jena, and local resident Sanjit Behera — have been arrested and sent to Balangir jail. Another six suspects remain absconding, including a youth from Malpada.
Balangir SDPO Saroj Upadhyay confirmed the arrests and said investigations are probing whether other police officials were complicit, given the attempt to formalise a settlement at Khordha’s Khandagiri police station.
