In a significant development for Odisha Police, Sanjeeb Panda, IPS, and Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa, IPS, have been promoted to the grade of Director General of Police (DGP).
The promotion proposal was formally approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, marking a key step in strengthening the state’s police leadership.
Both officers are among the most senior in the Odisha cadre and have held crucial assignments in law enforcement and administration. Their elevation to the DGP grade reflects recognition of their service record and contribution to policing in the state.
The decision is expected to bolster the state’s law‑and‑order machinery, with the newly promoted officers likely to take on enhanced responsibilities in guiding Odisha Police’s strategic and operational priorities.
Officials said the promotions align with the government’s focus on reinforcing leadership at the top level of the police force.
