The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has cleared the launch of its much-awaited Ekamra Residency housing project while approving several urban infrastructure initiatives during its 152nd Authority Meeting chaired by Housing & Urban Development Minister and BDA Chairman Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.

Spread over 7.36 acres at Subudhipur, Ekamra Residency features three B+G+12 towers with two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. Designed for modern living, the project offers earthquake-resistant RCC structures, landscaped open spaces, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, community hall, children’s play area, jogging track, sewage treatment plant, water recharge system, power backup, CCTV surveillance, and fire safety systems. Dr Mahapatra confirmed that pricing has been fixed to ensure affordability across sections of society.

The Authority also approved construction of a shaded cycle track and footpath along the Left Parallel Road from Ekamra Kanan Junction to Hatiasuni, aiming to promote safe non-motorised transport. A 10 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Drain No. 4 near Vani Vihar was cleared on a pilot basis to strengthen wastewater management.

Further, redevelopment of the Priyadarshini Market Complex at CRP Square was sanctioned to modernise facilities for traders and visitors. The Authority approved the Declaration of Intention for Town Planning Scheme Nos. 5, 6, 7 in Malipada and Daspur, and Nos. 42–45 in Bijipur, Baliapada, Kasipur, Bhagabanpur and Patrapada.

Progress of the proposed New City and Bhubaneswar Town Centre (BTC) projects was reviewed with satisfaction. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by BDA Secretary Manas Ranjan Padhi.
