The District Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Khordha has issued an urgent directive ordering the closure of all schools in the district till July 31 as a precautionary measure against possible flooding.
The order, signed by DEO‑cum‑DPC Smt. Sonamika Ray, follows instructions from the Collector and District Magistrate to ensure safety and readiness across educational institutions.
The circular mandates that all government, government‑aided, OAV, and private schools remain closed for students from July 30 (1 PM) to July 31, while teachers and staff must stay present to assist in flood preparedness and relief coordination. Schools have been directed to serve mid‑day meals only on July 30 before closing for students.
Headmasters have been asked to keep school buildings open round‑the‑clock for potential emergency shelter use and to maintain sanitation and safety standards. The administration emphasised zero tolerance for lapses, urging all Block Education Officers to ensure compliance.
The directive also instructs schools to resume normal functioning from August 1, once the situation stabilises. Officials said the move is part of a wider district‑level plan to safeguard students and utilise school infrastructure for community support during the flood season.
