The Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lieutenant General Gurubir Pal Singh, today met with the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, at Lok Seva Bhavan to discuss the expansion of the NCC in the state.

During the meeting, it was announced that the current number of NCC cadets in Odisha, which stands at 60,000, will increase to 90,000. To facilitate this growth, new NCC branches will be established in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other schools across Odisha.

Three NCC training centers will be set up in Cuttack, Berhampur, and Sambalpur to enhance the skills of the cadets. There is already 5 acres of land available in Cuttack and Berhampur, while 10 acres will be allocated in Sambalpur for this purpose.

Additionally, the state government will provide the necessary officers and staff to establish the NCC Group Headquarters in Koraput.

It has also been decided that NCC cadets will receive flight training at Jharsuguda Airport, with the state government allocating Rs. 1.5 crore for the establishment of a hangar there.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the NCC is a prestigious organization in the country, known for developing the potential of students and youth and engaging them in national service. He directed the state government to extend all possible support for the NCC’s expansion in Odisha.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunja Bihari Dhal, and senior officials from the NCC.

To facilitate coordination between the NCC and the state government, Colonel Sagar Mohanty, the NCC Director, along with Aravind Agrawal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Higher Education Department, will work to expedite the implementation of these initiatives.
