Former Bangladesh cricket captain and Dhaka Premier League (DPL) player Tamim Iqbal has been hospitalized in critical condition after experiencing chest pain during a match.
The incident occurred while he was playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club on March 24 at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground in Savar.
Tamim, who had been in outstanding form during the tournament, reported discomfort while fielding during Shinepukur’s innings. Despite the quick response of a medical team and the summoning of a helicopter for his transport, his condition required immediate stabilization on-site. He was later transported to Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital in Dhaka.
The left-handed batter, who recently retired from international cricket, has consistently impressed fans with his performances this season, including scoring two centuries. However, his sudden health scare has left the cricketing community and his fans in shock. Details about his recovery remain uncertain.
