President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district, on Thursday afternoon, marking an emotional homecoming to the soil where she was born and began her professional journey.
The President, who is on a two-day visit to Odisha, received a grand welcome from Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with senior officials and local representatives.

True to her deep connection with the region, President Murmu first inaugurated a free health camp organised in collaboration with AIIMS Bhubaneswar — the first of its kind in the area. She interacted warmly with doctors, health workers, and beneficiaries, underscoring the importance of accessible healthcare in tribal and rural pockets of Odisha.

Following the health camp, the President performed the ceremonial inauguration of several high-impact projects that promise to transform daily life in Rairangpur and the surrounding areas. These included:
- The mega pipe water supply project for Kusumi block, aimed at ensuring clean drinking water for thousands of families.
- The new building of the Brahma Kumaris organisation.
- The Special Circuit House.
- The new Superintendent of Police office for the newly formed Rairangpur Police District.
Local residents and officials described the day as historic, with the President personally blessing projects that directly address long-standing needs in water, health, administration, and spiritual infrastructure.

The visit carries special emotional weight. Tomorrow, 20 June, is President Murmu’s birthday. Instead of celebrating in Delhi, she has chosen to spend this personal milestone in her native Rairangpur — a gesture that has filled the town with pride and excitement.
The momentum will continue on Friday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Mayurbhanj. The two leaders will jointly participate in a massive public programme titled “Bikash Ra Dhara, Odisha Sara” in Rairangpur. The event also marks the completion of two years of the BJP government in Odisha.
During the programme, Prime Minister Modi is expected to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth more than Rs 47,600 crore across power, railways, roads, health, and education sectors — a major boost for Odisha’s growth story.
President Murmu’s visit today has already ignited hope and enthusiasm across Mayurbhanj. As she returns to the place that shaped her, the message is clear: development and emotional connection can go hand in hand.
