In a powerful push towards fostering self-reliance and innovation among Odisha’s youth, Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati visited the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) and the Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC) here today.

The Governor stressed the urgent need to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among students, transforming them from job seekers into job creators.

During his extensive tour, Dr Kambhampati interacted with directors, faculty members, officials, and students of both institutions. He encouraged young minds to focus on innovation, skill enhancement, and self-reliance, urging them to prepare detailed project profiles for various products while incorporating information on Central and State government schemes.

“We must shape our youth not as mere job aspirants but as entrepreneurs who create employment opportunities,” the Governor said. He advised students to leverage available financial and technical support from government initiatives, which would boost their confidence and help turn their startup dreams into reality.

Highlighting environmental sustainability, Dr Kambhampati called for greater adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) within the campuses and a gradual shift away from petrol and diesel-powered vehicles. He also advocated installing solar panels across institutional premises to promote renewable energy and support long-term green development.

The Governor further emphasised the importance of creating awareness about various welfare and development schemes of the Central and State governments so that students and employees can avail their benefits and contribute more effectively to nation-building.

At CIPET, Principal Director & Head Shri Pramod Kumar Sahu welcomed the Governor. Dr Kambhampati was briefed on the institute’s education, skill development, research programs, and industry collaboration initiatives. He toured various laboratories, reviewed ongoing research and testing activities, and appreciated CIPET’s efforts in developing products and technologies that address societal needs.

At CTTC, In-Charge General Manager Dr K.M. Rajan and senior officials received the Governor. He was given an overview of the centre’s training, production, consultancy, and technology development activities. After visiting workshops and laboratories, the Governor lauded CTTC’s significant contribution to skill development and regional industrial growth.

The visit is expected to give a strong boost to technical education, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystems in Odisha.
