India stamped their dominance in the second ODI against Afghanistan at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, securing a resounding 170-run win and an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.
Batting first, India posted 232/9 in 49.5 overs, riding on a crucial middle-order surge. The highlight came between overs 31–40, where the hosts hammered 120 runs at an astonishing 12 runs per over, shifting momentum decisively. Despite early wickets, India’s resilience ensured a competitive total.
Afghanistan’s chase faltered under relentless Indian pressure. Their innings folded at 232 in 44.3 overs, undone by disciplined bowling and sharp fielding.
The defining moment arrived when Rahmat Shah, Afghanistan’s last hope, was dismissed by Prince Yadav, caught brilliantly by Gurnoor Singh Brar. That wicket sealed India’s emphatic triumph.
This victory not only showcased India’s depth and adaptability but also highlighted their ability to seize key phases of play. Afghanistan, despite flashes of resistance, struggled to match India’s intensity and consistency.
With this win, India clinched the series, leaving Afghanistan with only pride to play for in the final ODI on 20th June.
