The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has received intellectual property approval from the Indian Patent Office for two significant word marks and one logo closely associated with the sacred shrine.
The approved marks include “Ananda Bajara”, “Patitapabana”, and the official logo of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). The temple administration confirmed the development in an official statement.
According to temple officials, applications have also been filed for 26 additional names and identifiers. The Indian Patent Office has sought further information regarding these applications. Once the required details are submitted, approval is expected for these marks as well.
Under Indian patent and trademark laws, securing legal recognition for such names, symbols, or logos grants the authority the right to prevent unauthorized commercial use, sale, production, or exploitation of these protected marks.
The administration has additionally applied for the trademark of “Jagannath Dham”. Shree Jagannath Temple’s Chief Administrator, Dr. Arvind Padhi, provided details about the ongoing efforts.
This proactive step is being viewed as a significant initiative to safeguard the traditional names, spiritual identity, and cultural heritage associated with Lord Jagannath. It aims to prevent misuse and commercialization of sacred references linked to one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites.
