Aspiring undergraduates across Odisha have received welcome news! The Higher Education Department has extended the deadline for submitting online applications for undergraduate programmes for the academic session 2026–27.

Students can now apply through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal until 16th June 2026.

The first merit list will be published on 22nd June 2026, giving applicants a clear and extended window to finalise their choices.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the admission process offers greater flexibility than ever before. While filling the Common Application Form (CAF) on the SAMS portal, students can select their preferred major and minor subjects, allowing them to tailor their academic journey according to their interests and career goals.

Students keen on industry-oriented learning can also apply for Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes through the same portal. These programmes blend academic education with practical workplace training, enhancing employability right from the undergraduate level.

The department has set an ambitious target to commence undergraduate classes for the 2026–27 session by 10th July 2026.

With this extension, students who were still weighing their options or waiting for Class 12 results now have additional time to make informed decisions. Officials urge eligible candidates to visit the official SAMS portal (sams.odisha.gov.in) at the earliest and complete their applications to avoid a last-minute rush.

This student-friendly move is expected to further improve gross enrolment ratios and ensure a smooth transition into higher education under the NEP framework.
