Villagers staged a dramatic protest outside Bhadreswar police station in Cuttack district after police failed to arrest the accused in the death of Deepak Sethi from Podamarai village.
Family members placed Deepak’s body in front of the police station and launched a sit-in, demanding immediate action against those they accused of attacking him. They alleged that local youths took Deepak to Visakhapatnam for work and later assaulted him fatally, throwing him from a building.
Relatives rushed Deepak back to Cuttack in critical condition and admitted him to a private hospital. Despite treatment, he succumbed to his injuries. His death triggered outrage in the village, with family members accusing police of negligence and shielding the accused.
Protesters insisted that police arrest the attackers without delay. They declared that justice must be delivered and warned of intensified agitation if authorities failed to act. The protest created tense scenes outside Bhadreswar police station, where villagers refused to move until officials responded.
Police tried to pacify the crowd and held discussions with family members. However, no clear response emerged regarding the arrest of the accused. The protest highlighted growing frustration over delayed investigations and alleged inaction in serious crime cases.
