This afternoon, Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh, IPS, assumed charge as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Special Task Force (STF), Odisha.

He outlined his priorities immediately after taking office, stressing that the STF will intensify its fight against organised crime under the direction of the DGP Odisha and guidance of the DGP Crime.

Dr. Singh said the STF will give top priority to the prevention and detection of organised crime. He highlighted ongoing operations against wildlife crime, illegal gun smuggling, and sand smuggling. He emphasised that the prime focus will remain on the anti‑narcotics drive as part of the ongoing #NashaMuktOdisha Abhijan.

He added that interstate coordination will be strengthened and technology will be used more effectively to build capacity. The STF will expand its reach by combining intelligence inputs with modern tools to dismantle criminal networks.
