Commuters in Odisha, take note! The East Coast Railway has announced a series of temporary adjustments to MEMU services in the Khurda Road Division to carry out critical safety-related infrastructure modernisation works.

These changes, though disruptive in the short term, are designed to deliver safer tracks, smoother operations, and greater long-term reliability for thousands of daily passengers.

The modernisation drive focuses on upgrading essential safety infrastructure, ensuring the network remains robust for years to come. Most changes will take effect between late May and mid-June 2026, with passengers urged to plan journeys in advance.

Short-Termination and Short-Origination of Services

To facilitate the works, several trains will now terminate or originate at Khallikot station instead of their usual endpoints:

  • Train No. 68419 Bhubaneswar–Palasa MEMU will be short-terminated at Khallikot on 24 May 2026.
  • Consequently, Train No. 68420 Palasa–Bhubaneswar MEMU will short-originate from Khallikot on 22 and 25 May 2026.
  • Train No. 68411/68412 Bhubaneswar–Brahmapur–Bhubaneswar MEMU will be short-terminated and short-originated at Khallikot on 23, 27 and 30 May 2026, and on 3, 6, 10, 13 and 17 June 2026.
  • Full Cancellation of Services

The following round-trip MEMU trains between Cuttack and Bhadrak will be completely cancelled on the dates below:

  • Train No. 68438/68437 Cuttack–Bhadrak–Cuttack MEMU cancelled on 26, 27 and 28 May 2026, and on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 16 June 2026.
  • Train No. 68424/68423 Cuttack–Bhadrak–Cuttack MEMU cancelled on 27 and 28 May 2026, and on 3, 4, 10 and 11 June 2026.

Railway authorities have assured that these are short-term measures only. Updated train status and alternative travel options will be available on official railway enquiry systems, PRS counters, and the IRCTC website/app.

Passengers are requested to check schedules before travelling and extend their cooperation during this important safety upgrade phase.
