The Balianta murder case triggered statewide outrage as top officials reached the crime scene for investigation. DGP Y.B. Khurania and DCP Jagmohan Meena inspected the site along with Balianta police.
State Women’s Commission Chairperson Shobhana Mohanty also visited, recording the statement of a survivor’s friend and assuring a neutral probe.
Mohanty confirmed that both women involved in the incident are stable. She emphasised that the commission will submit its investigation report soon and promised strict action against those found guilty. She also visited the house of deceased constable Soumya Ranjan Swain to meet his family.
Police have already arrested five suspects based on viral video evidence. Special teams continue searching for more accused. The DGP stressed that law enforcement will act firmly to prevent the recurrence of such mob violence.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi directed police to enforce strict measures and ensure the rule of law. He instructed authorities to take the toughest possible action against perpetrators, regardless of their status.
