A Colombian military transport aircraft carrying 110 soldiers crashed shortly after take-off in the southern Amazon region.
The Lockheed Martin Hercules C-130 went down near Puerto Leguzamo, close to the Peruvian border, just three kilometers from an urban center.
Eyewitnesses reported a massive plume of black smoke rising from the crash site, with local media circulating videos of the aftermath. Defence Minister Pedro Sánchez confirmed the incident, noting that details on casualties are still being verified.
The Colombian military has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, while emergency teams rushed to the site to assess the situation.
